Holli gave me this idea for a post because I've been lamenting to her about my husband's temporary absence (he's been at a business conference). Granted, it was only six days, but it was a LONG six days. I've pretty much been stuck at home attempting to entertain my toddlers for hours on end. My kids are intense and need constant interaction from me . . . they're not the types to play on their own. I tried to get some playdates together to bolster my sanity, but no one took pity on me.
How do single mom's do it? Honestly, I pride myself in being independent, but there's a point when I do need a break. I admire and am perplexed by those who do this day in and day out -- I'm not that impressive!
No adult conversation . . . no spouse to play with my kids . . . no lit up faces when Dad comes home at night . . . a too quiet house in the evening hours -- yes, I'll take my husband back with open arms and a peck on the cheek!

You are amazing, Lisa! Six days really is a LONG time! Travis was gone for 1 day to California last week with no overnight stay and I thought that was long enough! Although, now I have to start gearing up for longer business trips coming up on the radar...
Ditto from me! Yea to all single moms! But I do have to say that with Jer gone we had many good non-acronymic conversations on facebook! And a little bit of horror from your last email :) Wish me well next week!
Truth is they are usually away from their kids for most of the day working. And taking care of this kids is a small part of the day. Not that I would want to be in their place. I don't envy being a single Mom. Being a Mom is hard enough with out having to bear the burden all alone. Yeah for Dads that help out!
I totally agree! Six days is long enough to realize that I would never choose to do it alone. Single moms are truly my heros!
Amen Sista! Tim is in your next of the woods and gets home tonight. He will be gone the whole month of October and that makes me nervous. Glad you survived!! :) Make sure he gives you a day off. Perhaps a little Cheesecake Factory will hit the spot.
