It Was the Summer of '07

"Oh when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life"

- "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams

I heard that song the other day, and boy, did I feel old!!! Not only is that song old, but the lyrics remind me of a time so distant . . . those carefree summer days (not in 1969, mind you -- I wasn't even a twinkle). Now summer takes on a whole new meaning with my kids. I hope I make it fun for them, seeing as how I'm their sole source of entertainment (poor things!).

Anyway, since I didn't start blogging until last fall, I didn't document their last summer. Here are a few pics from last year . . . the Summer of 2007:

One of Jayce's first drawings of a person (I think it's his dad). We were rather impressed. I think Jer looks way hot!

We went to a family reunion in Carpenteria, CA (near Santa Barbara). Jayce got to try out some rhythm sticks for a family night activity.

This was taken at the beach in Carpenteria -- Jayce loved the ocean, simply because the waves were "chasing" him -- he enjoyed fleeing the white caps. Poor guy, he had some serious swim suit issues.

My brother, David, married Sheri, and they're still going strong (way to go!). Currently they are doing their optometry residencies near Phoenix.

This was taken at the Provo Freedom Festival Parade. We'll be there again this year since I'm Patriotric Provo Pike Person! (bonus points for alliteration).

Just a random pic of the kids putting the cloth blocks on their head (something they still do today). I'm not sure why Alyssa's cheeks were so red.

Anyway, since this is my first post since the official start of summer 08, I decided to reflect on 07. I can't believe how much has changed in a year -- especially with my kids. I love seeing them develop and become little people, but it pains me all the same. I just hope we have a great summer of fun to keep my mind off of their exponential growth!

They grow up way too fast, don't they! Have fun making this summer as great as last year's!

Those pics were hilarious! I've never seen them put those awesome blocks on their heads. Jayce seems so much older now - is that stubble I'm seeing on his face?

I LOVE Carpenteria Beach!!! I have been there too. My two oldest were about the same age as yours. Good times.

That picture really is good - and not only that but it is a spitting image of Jer...(bonus points for you knowing what alliteration is, and how to spell it)

I think Jayce has some fantastic artistic skills! His picture of Daddy look advanced for being made last summer. We'll have to be fun mom's and continue to keep them entertained this summer! We'll see you at the movies.
