My Super Hero!

A few months back Jayce and I were at Target and he spotted some Superman PJs. He was so anxious to get them that I didn't debate the issue like I normally do before purchases. After I relented, he was ready to change in the store aisle, but I did insist on some modesty and told him to wait until we got home. He literally grabbed my hand and pulled me to the cashier. As we drove home he kept talking about the cape and thought it was the greatest. I should have clued in then . . . .
We got home and he ran in to change his clothes. He immediately jumped on the couch and dove to the floor. Mid-air he exclaimed, "Mom, I can't fly!" The look of horror on his face was so sad to see. He was convinced that the cape would allow him to soar, but he learned the hard way as he crashed into a heap.
I blame myself -- I never gave him "the talk." You know -- the one where I explain that people can't fly and super heroes are pretend. He's aware now, yet he still manages to have fun in the get-up. He leaps onto our soft bean bag with gusto and flair and still fights the imaginary bad guys that seem to flock to our house. So fun!

We had this when Jaxon thought he was buzz...I caught him jumping over our stairs (off of a stool) by his foot! Divine intervention that day!

Ha, ha! What a silly little guy. I LOVE the pictures of him in full action and then the sad face when he learned the truth about flying. You are nicer then me, Shane has spoted those PJ's at Target many of times and I just meanly say NO!

How cute is that!? It's hard to have to dash the dreams of the little ones. Sometimes I wish that I still believed in some of those things. It would make the days a little more magical...and make the messes a little more manageable ;)

Love the Superman story! Yes, we joined the blogasphere. It will either make me super popular, or it will turn me into a Sith Lord. I'm kind of hoping for the latter, but we'll see...

Wow, I am laughing pretty hard right now! It is funny how forget some of the basic things that we take for granted that we actually need to teach our children. Who would ever think, hmmm, I better teach my son that he can't really fly? I love it! What a cutie, he is getting so big!
