Sleeping Beauty no more?

Once upon a time Jer and I finally felt we had a baby that loved to sleep. Alyssa would practically leap from my arms into her crib without a fight. We were thrilled! Jayce has never been a fan of bedtime, and the sleep issue has been a big struggle with him since the beginning. Our daughter, on the other hand, had made us feel as if we had hit the sleep jackpot.

How times have changed! Our views were indeed a fairy tale. Alyssa has decided that sleep isn't for her and that she'd rather stay up and play. Okay, fine then. But how on earth will I get anything done, now? I was barely squeaking by before! Her naps are less frequent and are a much shorter duration. She used to fall asleep for the night at 6, and I could get dinner on for the boys and clean the house. Now she's running around, wanting Mom's or Dad's full attention. Placing her in the crib has become an internal struggle for me . . . how long do I let her scream? Should I let her stay up and play? My evenings are more complicated, and I miss my happily sleeping baby in the early evening hours.

Will this saga have a happy ending? Stay tuned. . .

This was taken a couple of months ago when she used to love sleep. See that smile? It was due to how well-rested she felt! :)

Oh, you don't know how much better I feel right now! I was beginning to think we were the only ones who have to stand guard outside our kids' bedroom doors. Tyler is on the "might" or "might not" sleep schedule, too. Good luck! I love the smiley picture! What a doll!

I am sorry she won't sleep! I can certainly appreciate a sleeping baby! When Casen was born I quite literally thought I would never sleep again. Then he started sleeping through the night and I loved it, then he stopped and it was soo hard. I cried. For now he is back to sleeping. I just keep praying he doesn't stop!! Good luck!

So sorry! That is the worst. I think something is in the air because Mr. Trevor is having the same problem. Not taking long naps and going to bed later. Do not tell me it is these 2 kids age!

Oh... haha!! My kids have never slept through the night and have never slept well... so no advice on my end. Crying it out doesnt work. I think the trick is to learn to appreciate that she wants to be near you, and not to worry about the other stuff. It will get done eventually. Maybe the kids can learn to help a bit, I know my kids love to help too. She is a cutie pattootee...

I totally hear ya! None of my kids have been good sleepers and Sadee starts off in her crib at night, but ends up with us by 11 because I can't let her just scream and wake up the other 2 kids and the neighbors. UGH! They must've all gotten the Blauer/Meyer we don't need to sleep for very long genes! hahaha.... Good luck with getting her back on a schedule!

Oh man! I feel for you. Abby is giving up her naps and I never get anything done. She gets soooo cranky too without all extra sleep.

You could take a page from my book and play through dinner, and when it is bed time you can pull out cold cereal, or order a pizza. Just kidding. She is so cute that she doesn't need her beauty sleep!
