Confession

Okay, I'll admit it -- I've had a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad week!! My kids have been sick, and normally I handle it okay (sadly, as many as you know, I'm used to the whole illness routine). However, for some reason, my coping mechanism has not been working and I've had a really hard time dealing with the increased grumpiness and clinginess. My patience has been short while my frustration has increased. I keep having fantasies of leaving them with Jer while I escape to SoCal for a couple of days to sip virgin raspberry coladas on the beach . . . answering only to the cabana boy. :) I'm in the mood to be selfish, asking such questions to myself such as "What do I want to eat?" "When do I feel like going to bed?" "What will I do with all this free time?" I would never actually go, but I am going through a rebellious phase in my thoughts. :)
Good news, though . . . my mood has lightened quite a bit. Thank goodness for Enrichment Night! I had a great time socializing with adults and getting away from my maternal responsibilities. Not only is the gospel true, but the friendships and camaraderie within the Church are also true. Beyond the ward, I have great friends, neighbors, and family as well. I wish I exercised as much patience towards my kids this week as Jeremy has towards me. He's been kind as I've vented and vented and vented.
How fun is Alyssa, by the way? These pics were taken in happier days -- last week before she got sick. She's such a fun baby (or is it toddler, now)?

Ahhh, I hear you! Not to make you too jealous but I'm going away for the week-end! We NEED to plan a trip with some girls and no that is not selfish we need our own time even if it is once every few years!!!! I'm glad Enrichment helped that makes me happy! Too bad I had to leave with my grumpy kids!

On days like those it is nice to get away for even just an hour or two to rejuvinate yourself. I truly believe moms need breaks to be good moms.

your next horrible, no good, very bad day, visit Dallas!
