What have I become?

As I was driving home from a local middle school yesterday, a terrible thought hit me . . . I am now, officially, a soccer mom! I had just enrolled Jayce in a soccer league, and here I was -- driving around in my mini-van, talking on the cell phone, and running errands for my child's activities. Seriously, all I needed was a track suit, and I would have been well on my way to a cliche (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I guess I was disturbed because the term "soccer mom" always seemed so far away. I knew I was destined to become one, yet I was still shaken as this realization occurred. Am I really that responsible, mature, and suburban? Am I really a part of that target group that politicians try so hard to reach? (sorry, Obama -- I won't be swayed). Am I ready for this? Hardly! I guess I can't avoid it. I might as well embrace my status and celebrate!
p.s. I found my camera.

Welcome to the club! I sometimes don't think I'm really old enough to be doing things like this... weren't we all just students at BYU (or some other great university) the other day sitting around in dorms or apartments waiting for exciting things like THE game or a fireside or FHE or a phone call or something? When I walk around BYU I have to literally remind myself I am NOT just about the same age as all the students walking around. Oh well, being a soccer mom is not so bad- you get to cheer for your kids and try to extoll the virtues of sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles all while secretly hoping it's your kid that scores and/or blocks the goal. :)

Very exciting, the next step is coaching like Holli. I'm pretty sure she's the only coach out there in a skirt and flip flops.

Anyway, enough of that important life stuff, here's the real question. Where did you find the camera? I was sure it was goner. I can't ever find anything that's been missing for that long. Unless it shows up years later.

Yeah for your camera! It will be fun to see more pictures! My boys just started soccer last week, so I'm right there with you! Weird, huh? Have fun cheering him on!

Jayce found it under the couch cushions. He saved the day (although he probably put it there in the first place).

Yea for Jayce...and soccer moms.

Did you see what Sarah Palin said the difference was between a hockey mom and a pitbull...lipstick

For soccer, the difference would be flip-flops and a skirt! It is all about comfort my friends!

BTW - I was a total pitbull on Sat. The other coach was bossing around my kids...grrrrr! and double grrrr...

Welcome to this crazy world! Once a soccer mom, always a soccer mom. Even if it does not involve soccer-you are going to be going to all sorts of events as your kids get older and older and older....then it is just busier and busier and busier.....It is fun though. Crazy, but a fun crazy:)
