Yes, we lost the MWC Championship game. I witnessed the carnage firsthand. Jer and I were so stoked to go together, but sadly, our babysitting situation didn't work out so I went solo (so typical for us -- we've had a mere two times in the last three years when we've been out without the kids). I just couldn't stand the thought of watching the game on TV while the actual game was being played a mere 15 minutes away. I braved the sea of Rebel Red so I could cheer on my Cougs. Anyway, we may have lost the game, but here are some BYU highlights:
1. Overall, BYU had the best-looking crowd. :)
2. The Cougarettes were skilled, talented, and wholesome during their half-time performance (national dance champions). The Rebel Girls, however, were doing moves I refuse to describe on a family blog. Maybe I'm glad Jer wasn't there after all.
3. A BYU fan won $66,000 in a free-throw contest. So impressed!
4. The BYU fans I sat with were spirited and civil. The Rebel fans seated three rows behind me were crass and profane. Granted, I'm sure some BYU fans sunk to that level, but I witnessed good behavior in my section.
Okay, my Rebel friends -- I had to spin this experience somewhat positively because I'm bummed about the loss. You won fair and square, although you were on your home court . . . . :)

I agree. If we were at home court we would of kicked their trash. :)
That is hilarious. I love your take on the game through "rose colored glasses."
Glad you got to go to the game!
In honor of your fallen team..
"Rise and shout, the Cougars are out along the trail to fame and glory.
Rise and shout, our cheers will ring out As you unfold your vict'ry story.
On you go to vanquish the foe
for Alma Mater's sons and daughters.
As we join in song in praise of you our faith is strong. We'll raise our colors high in the blue
And cheer our Cougars of BYU. "
Cheerio! :)
my friend said he saw signs from unlv fans that said "CTR - choose the rebels" and "retreat to the temple". i guess unlv also won in awesome signs.
So Lisa, I have to say that after reading all the papers - You are a brave, cougar blue wearing, young woman, and win my vote for Coug of the year.
I did not realize all the fighting and hoopla amongst the band. From what I can tell the band may have gotten the best of the drunk guys :) Go Band!
I was in the nosebleed section and missed the drama . . . I didn't find out about it until I read the paper this morning. I will confess . . . I left a couple of minutes early. I just couldn't bear to be surrounded by the taunting Rebels any longer, and I knew BYU was going to lose.
You still win my vote. As much as I like the cougs, and sporting events, I would have rather seen the ballet than brave cougar blue amongst that wild crowd.
Sorry Lisa but Go Rebels!! We do have awesome signs! My shirt says, Real Mormons are Rebels. I know the people that have the Choose the Rebels sign! Yeah!
