Lately I've been feeling very overwhelmed -- with gratitude and guilt at the same time. :) I've had wonderful friends send Christmas cards and goodies my way, yet I've done NOTHING. I still have every intention of sending out Christmas cards and doing something nice for others, but I haven't mustered the motivation. I could use sick kids and holiday busy-ness as an excuse, but I think everyone else has been in the same boat.
Jayce has further humbled me today. This morning I was telling him that some moms go to work. I used our friend, Wendy, as an example, telling him she's a school teacher. He retorted, "You're not a school teacher, Mommy, you're just a person!" He reiterated that point later when he noticed a bug in his cereal (don't ask me how it got there). I offered to get it for him, but he insisted on waiting for Dad. I asked him why I couldn't do it. He replied,"You're just a person and Daddy saves me." I should be offended, but I thought it was rather funny.

Okay stop right there. You are not just a person. You are "THE PERSON" the person who does everything and anything, and takes care of everyone in your home. Your job is to be all things to all people, know where every single thing is at all times, and solve every problem that happens. My mom always used to say dad is special and mom is just like their foot. They need you, but they take you for granted until something goes wrong (like you get broken). And don't feel guilty about all the Christmas junk. I would love a picture or card of your family, but I will love it just as much in 6 weeks as I would now. (Mine still aren't out yet either.) I once sent them out at the end of January, and I know Mitzi is planning on sending hers in February. I know for a fact that people have done things and treats for your family because we all love being your friend. (I heard them say it, but I'm not mentioning who or it will ruin the surprises.) Christmas is just that, for people to let you know you're loved, and for you to spend time with your family. You do what you can, and try not to kill yourself. I know how you've been feeling. I've been up almost every night with kids throwing up, and stressing myself out about dumb things. (like making cute tags on pixie presents, which I never finished and wording of sentences in our Christmas letter, which I'm not sure I still like how it is, but I'm done whether its good or not). None of it matters. If someone is offended because you didn't send a treat back, they're dumb. You're a great mom... We know that, and somewhere in Jace's little heart he knows it too. If something went really wrong in his little world, mommy would be the only one he wanted. Don't beat yourself up, Christmas is here in 4 days, whether you kill yourself or not. So make it easy on yourself and don't. Sorry for the epistle! Ha! World's longest comment, geeze.
I love you, Lisa! I hope you all feel better soon and have a fun Christmas! I think blogging counts as a "Christmas Card" for sure! :)
Oh, goodness! I didn't mean to garner such sympathy. Thanks, girls! I'm really okay -- just wishing I was more on the ball, that's all. Thanks for the kind words! See? What great friends I have! I need to show them how much I appreciate them through Christmas cards and nice things . . . . which will happen eventually. :)
Oh boy... You sound down in the dumps! We know you mucho love us! Let me add to the other comments... YOU ARE GREAT! You sound like a typical mother who sometimes feels unappreciated. You are Great! (Tell me that next time I need a pick me up! :) ) We all get there. Sit back and relax--Its Christmas REMEMBER! :)
I'm just getting around to blogging for the first time in a week!!! I died laughing at Jayce's comment! Don't worry my cards finally went out in the mail today, but I'm NOT done with my shopping or goodies. Sunday is a good day for goodies, RIGHT?!
